The Station: Test Drive

Welcome to the Station's Test Drive

Here, you will have the chance to try your character's voice out before apping them into the game. Feel free to play out in whatever means you would like - through the Station's communicators which are video and voice or either one alone, through action tags or prose, or whatever else you wish.

Please note that testing a character here does not guarantee that you have a reservation on that character. You may reserve a character HERE. Also note that this may be used as one of your samples for your application, though the mods may ask for more if what is provided is not considered sufficient. Finally, any thing played out on the test drive will not be considered character canon until after your character has woken up on the Station, as each character is given a unique scenario for their character's waking upon acceptance to the game.

[There appears to be a robot in your supplies room, Station. KOS-MOS is making her way through with her slow, steady stride, pausing occasionally to scan the boxes.]

Sensory readings inconsistent. Interference scrub failed. Retry failed. Container content readings may be subject to error. Estimated error rate ten percent.

This error rate is not sufficient to explain the state of the storage area. Suboptimal organization results in a loss of efficiency.

[Logicbot disapproves, strongly enough that the sentiment - if you can call it that - penetrates her normally calm, unruffled voice.]

Ezri had checked out the little communication device. It was strange--like a tiny little PADD with dozens of functions. She could go all Torias on the thing, of course, but it could wait. She would probably do better to explore this place on foot, see the lay of the station. See if there was anyone else here!

She found the mess hall first, which she considered to be a lucky find. Food, that was crucial... if she could trust these replicators. Without meeting anyone on this station, it was probably a good idea to be a little suspicious.

But she could at least test to see if they functioned. "Okay... let's see. Raktajino," she said with a nod. Hard to go wrong with Klingon coffee.

Keelah--!

[ The rest of Tali'zorah's outburst is muffled as she jams herself half into an access port in the power core. She's struggling to make sense of strange power couplings and odd bits of equipment that are quite different from what she's used to. But then again, being a quarian comes with having to make do with what you have and learning new layouts and parts everytime a new ship joins the Flotilla. She's busily running a power diagnostic--trying to find where the heck the line that feeds one of the crew lounges goes, since something is making the lights flicker in there and no one else seems willing to take care of the problem. ]

It was strange, waking up in Dinah. She hadn't remembered going to sleep. But even more strange was being docked in some unfamiliar hangar. Shion was absolutely certain that she had been on the Durandal just before. Sure, she had been having problems staying conscious lately, but this was ridiculous.

So as she wandered away from her vessel, she looked like she might be in a bit of a haze. She was trying to make sense of what had happened, and where she was. So she gave a little wave to the first person she saw, trying to get their attention.

"Hello? Excuse me..."

Though she had awakened within her typical chambers aboard the Queen Emeraldas, there was still something wrong. Something distinctly off.

And she had her answer when a view through the 'eyes' of the cockpit told her she was in a hangar. She couldn't recall docking somewhere and if she had been forcibly boarded, the Queen Emeraldas would have awakened her immediately.

Despite her misgivings though, the pirate still manages to cut quite an image as she comes down the gangplank of her ship. She moves with grace even though one can clearly feel the faint undercurrent of anger that seems to somewhat cool the expression on her scarred face.

Who would be the first person she questioned, hm?

"...y'know, Rush, this is the second time I've wound up on a weird space station without an obvious reason, but it's the first time you've been here with me."

The voice comes from a short boy in blue armor, with a red robot dog at his side. They're walking down a corridor, and the boy is staring out the windows as they go. His expression is fairly serious, though, and one of his arms converts into a cannon configuration. Rush makes a curious noise at the change. "Well, last time I got attacked by a weird green robot - so I'm not gonna take any chances this time."

Dustin may not have been the smartest Power Ranger around but even he knew when something went weird. Case in point: waking up in his ninja gear aboard the cockpit of his giant robot lion Zord was definitely a new experience for him. Hastily, he jumped out of said vehicle and looked around hoping to find some people.

"Hey! How the hell do you find your way around this place!?"

Kittan is shouting over the communicator as he walks through the station. He's angry and yelling always helps back home, so why not here? The station itself makes no sense to him, as does just about anything that does not respond to willpower and loud noises.

"Has anyone seen the King Kittan?"

For those that might have encountered it, it's the large yellow mech that looks like a banana with a face.

[Being transplanted to another part of the galaxy, even if against his will, was no reason for Mordin to set aside his usual assortment of side projects. He'd rather be continuing his secret work on Sur'kesh, or even be back on board the Normandy, though he'd never say so if asked by anyone other than Shepard.

He moved around the medical bay, observing reactions in different sample pods and then quickly moving back to the computers to input new commands and record the readings. Anyone walking in would also note his humming some Gilbert and Sullivan song under his breath as he worked.]

[Harry leans against the wall, smoking a cigarette carefully in his fingers. One of them is a little loose, so he has to hold the cigarette carefully while he smokes, but otherwise it's fairly secure. He doesn't realize he's broadcasting his inner thoughts through his comm device (he thinks it's just a fancy tape recorder), but pretty much anyone can hear him. He also sounds like he's narrating to someone, though there's no one around.]

So. Um. I guess I'm on a spaceship now. I've wandered around a couple of...days? Yeah, I think that's right. Anyway I'm not sure whether it's a green-skinned space chicks kind of deal or...y'know, the kind of thing where a monster pops out of your chest and starts eating people's faces-- with my luck lately, it'll be a green-skinned space chick who pops out of my chest...and eats someone's face. Um. Yeah, did I mention this is gonna get kinda grim? I'm stuck in space-- it kind of goes with the territory, but yeah, that was kinda dark.

In any case, I'll get back to you later. I'm...gonna try to see if they have decent coffee around here.

[Harry flips off the recorder]

I'm guessing that one's going to be a big "no"...

[Playing with a bit of equipment, he manages to engineer a large pistol sized device. Pointing it at a pre set target, he pushed the trigger and a bolt of electricity strikes the target. Of course, the thing fries itself in the process.]

Maybe I'll stick to making a taser...

"Ciel, this is Zero. Please respond."

The red-armored figure's voice was calm, almost unnaturally so given the circumstances, but there was an unmistakeable hint of irritation creeping into it. As if this wasn't the first time he'd made the transmission. Of course, there was no response, so with a disgusted 'tch' he pulled his hand away from his helmet and began to take stock of his surroundings.

One hand hovered near the white tube holstered on his thigh, just in case.

"...Area X?" That was (as far as he knew) his only time in outer space, but there was something off about the view through the large glass windows. ...ah. That was it. He couldn't see the Earth below. A deep frown spread across his face as he turned away from the window. Something was very wrong here. And he didn't like being surprised.

Um... in the Mess Hall? (edited for a typo, sorry)

[personal profile] lessandmorethanhuman 2013-02-28 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, one might think after all the faults in his memory and all he'd been through, Alex wouldn't be surprised to find himself somewhere with no idea how he got there, or where it was. At least this time, it wasn't flat on a table with people about to dissect him. It was also quiet, and kept him on edge--not that one would know it, with his hands in his pockets as he walked.

Eventually one door led to a hallway led to a door and this was at least a well-lit area. Looked like a mess hall out of some science fiction show. Which meant, that there were probably other people. So the smart thing now, was for him to explore the room and try to figure out how they got the food and drinks.

So, there is a strange man in jeans and a leather jacket over a grey-hoodie, hands in his pockets, wandering around your mess hall, Station...

[The shinobi walked the hallways, eyes glazed over as he looked at the various techno bits he could see in the station hallways. He'd been around some very basic computers before during his stays at the Hospital back home, but this stuff was just weird. Every so often he took out a kunai and tapped a wall, frowning some. Something about this place just felt really off. It wasn't the constant thrum, he could live with that. It wasn't the recycled air, he'd handled worse from the afore mentioned hospital. Whereever he was though, he knew one thing: they better have ramen or there'd be hell to pay.]

[Shepard's getting real tired of this bullshit. Waking up in a strange place was cute once. Now? Now, it's just annoying. And what the hell did they bring him here for? To shuttle supplies? Shepard's not a delivery service. Especially when he's in the middle of his own mission. For their own sake, the crew of this station better pray the Collectors haven't hurt Shepard's crew. Or taken any other colonies.

So it's to the mess hall right now, to eat and figure things out. He plops the tray on a nearby table and sits down. Was he invited to sit down? Probably not. Does he care? Not in the slightest.]

[How many books has he read? How many movies has he watched? How many times has he stood under the vast sky, layers of protection separating the planet from the cold black depth of space, imagining someone on another planet doing the exact same thing at that very moment?

Nothing so serious that he wanted to become an astronaut or astrophysicist. But he had wondered.

Now. Here he was. Standing on a space station looking out into a black void that held no stars, at a planet that was just as beautiful as he'd imagined Earth would be, and he had no idea whether he should laugh or cry.

Sebastian lifted his hand and placed it against the glass. It didn't make it any more real.]

Lounge somewhere near Supplies

'Ya know, this is not where the Old Man said I'd end up'

That was the thought in the head of the odd bat glancing around the lounge. The mission was supposed to be simple - a quick jaunt through a boomtube to visit the old Justice League because of an issue with the Thanagarians. He was being sent solo as the principal players already knew who he was due to the visit they'd made some time back.

However now, even as the suit's systems were rebooting he noticed a new piece of tech on him. Touchscreen, video, audio, odd OS but he'd work with it. The suit OS seemed to communicate with it pretty good, which meant he'd be able to record all of this for if and when he ever got back home.

"Alright..." He said with that deep Batman voice, loud enough that anyone near by would hear, "Someone wanna tell me who ordered Vigilante Hero upgrade?"

Ed was on her very first walk around the Station, barefoot as usual, Ein at her callused heels and Tomato balanced on her head. She had been on space stations before, but like ships, each one was different, and she just had to say hello to it all properly.

...except that some of the doors were locked in ways Tomato couldn't hack yet. Sadface. And one of them, the one with the wiggly vines, Ein had literally chased her away from in fear. That had been frustrating, but her tummy was growling anyway, so she had shrugged it off and backtracked to where she'd seen what looked like a dining hall.

Now she stood in front of one of the replicators, staaaaring up at the controls, eyes huge as she took in the implications of having whatever she wanted to eat. "Ooooooooh."

Ein barked and stood up to paw at the front of the replicator, wishing for the millionth time in his year of life that he had opposable thumbs. And a voice box. Because he would order so many things. Starting with a nice rare filet mignon, with a side of bacon. And salmon. Ooh, and more bacon. And maybe some peanut butter cookies. And--

Ed leaned toward the speaker. "Bell peppers and beef for two pleeease!"

...Ein whined faintly and laid his nose on his paws. Oh well. At least this version would have actual beef in it.

Hangar

[personal profile] lost_my_watch 2013-04-28 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Tommy rubbed his head as he slowly woke up. Taking his time, he rubbed his wrists, subconsciously checking to see if his com-watch was there. With his penchant for being abit forgetful with it, he was glad to note it was still there. It was then that he noticed his surroundings, with some of the most unusual vessels he'd ever seen. However, two of the big things inside the hangar made him feel better, but at the same time more worried.

The first was a giant golden lion with a blue paddelwheel shape around it's neck. The style of construction was unmistakable - it was a zord, of some kind. Not one of his team's, but it wasn't difficult to recognize it's look like it was meant to be part of a larger mech.

More importantly was the silver black and green Godzilla-styled mecha whom had accompanied him for the last several months. The Dragonzord, in it's full glory... but something was off about it. Firstly he knew it was meant to be staying dormant under Angel Grove Bay, and two it was like it wasn't getting any power. It's normally glowing red eyes were vermilion jewels lacking fire, it's chest devoid of all life like when it was defeated. However, he didn't see any damage on it, so he didn't know what the problem was. 'Gotta get Billy to take a look at them...'

His mind was still a little fuzzy as to what it took to get him where he was, so he did the first thing that came to mind. He activated his com watch. "To any Rangers who can hear this, ranger in need of assistance. Repeat, ranger in need of assistance."

Weither that was also picked up by some of the other communication devices in the station, he had no idea. For now, he would look around to better orient himself.

Having fastened a cut out paper star to the end of a short pole, Kirby is happily striding down the halls with his star wand. He somehow holds it in his pink, fingerless stub of a hand. Being in such a good mood, he'll even wave at anyone who passes by with that wand.

Kaede walked along one of the wide catwalks spanning the inside of the docking bay, staring at the ships. Her expression was cold, but inside she was fascinated. One hand on the railing, she peered at the damaged hulk of one of them, her disinterested look slipping into a thoughtful frown. What would it be like to find a world somewhere away from humans? And how could she manage it?

She heard footsteps nearby and turned her head, immediately wary of company--especially human company. The idea was so distracting that she did not notice as massive section of hull plating fell suddenly from the damaged ship and dropped straight for her.

...or at least, her conscious mind did not notice. As the shadow of the plasteel chunk fell over her, it stopped suddenly, the material dimpling in four spots underneath and then seeming to float in midair. She looked up--and sighed in mild annoyance, setting the plate aside on the docking bay floor with her vectors before turning to deal with her unexpected company.

Well color Kaylee impressed.

This was one hell of a station and she couldn't help but wonder if they were actually in an Alliance station. A quick tour of Serenity showed her to be in decent working order (except that gorram compression coil). Something's muttered under her breath that sounds suspiciously like Chinese as she heads off of the ship and into the hangar.

This maybe an Alliance's station, but no one was around...why not take a few compression coils if they were around? Maybe after that the others would some how turn up, and River'd get them out of here and to safety. Or Mal.

Hopefully Mal wouldn't be driving. "Where's all their gorram tools here?" Kaylee whispered hotly as she started hunting, but turning up with nothing.

((Please let me know if this needs correcting))

Zhaan had been carefully making her way around the station for the last arn without seeing a soul. No DRDs, no contact with Pilot, Moia or anyone else. The small comm badge on her wrist was utterly dead.

Still, she didn't panic. It wasn't a Peacekeeper station, so she would explore into finding out where she was, how she got there and more importantly, how to go home.

This didn't look like Ponyville, and it certainly wasn't the Everfree Forest. It still felt off to Fluttershy though. There were no creatures--at least not ones she felt she could identify as friendly. Keeping her wings tucked close, trying to hold her head up even through her nerves as she walked.

It was too well organized to not be a garden though, of some kind. "Um..excuse me..." Quiet, voice small. Then taking a deep breath, and trying once more. "Hello??" Well--that would be normal speaking volume for anyone who wasn't her.
