Welcome to the Station's Test Drive

Here, you will have the chance to try your character's voice out before apping them into the game. Feel free to play out in whatever means you would like - through the Station's communicators which are video and voice or either one alone, through action tags or prose, or whatever else you wish.

Please note that testing a character here does not guarantee that you have a reservation on that character. You may reserve a character HERE. Also note that this may be used as one of your samples for your application, though the mods may ask for more if what is provided is not considered sufficient. Finally, any thing played out on the test drive will not be considered character canon until after your character has woken up on the Station, as each character is given a unique scenario for their character's waking upon acceptance to the game.

[Jack takes a knee to get on both kid and dog's level. He leaves a hand out for Ein to sniff if he wants to. He cant help but smile at her(?) enthusiasm.] "Okay. Hi, my name's Jack. What's yours, and what's..." [Jack glances at Ein and guesses,] "his name?"

[Kid's not freaking out about being on a spaceship, knows how to use the replicator? This might be an easier explanation than he's had to give to some of the adults here.]

[ed_and_ein]

She immediately drops into a crouch like a gangly cat and giggles at him. "Hi Jack! Ed will introduce Ed. Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrrrrusky the Fourth!" She rolls the R's extravagantly. "Deep Net Diver, Earth hard-liver, once-upon-a-time Bebop crew, Cowgirl now here with you!" Bounce bounce.

Then she scratches her mop of red hair, looking a bit puzzled. "Though Ed doesn't really know where 'here' is...."

Ein barks, a little offended at being left out of the introduction. Then he sniffs at Jack's hand and laps it once politely.

"This is Ein! He's a data-data dog! he's Ed's bestest friend besides Tomato."

The glass partition slides up, revealing a platter of Chinese style bell peppers and beef strips. She bounces up and skips over to grab the platter, telling the replicator "Thank youuuuu!"

[Jack has to burst out laughing at Ed's antics. Okay. He didn't understand two-thirds of that, but he supposes that's the point. Kids.] "Well, nice to meet you both." [Jack waits for Ed to go and return with the food.]

"We're on a space station. Ever been on one before?" [The look he gives her is curious and a little suspicious.]

Ed sets down the platter, peering at the chopsticks that came with it curiously. She then sticks them in her ears and presses her face to the platter, happily chomping away while Ein comes to have some too. "Ommm!"

At his question she looks up, sauce on her cheeks, and nods enthusiastically. "Oh yes, Ed's been on space stations and fighter ships and jump gates and Bebop and...um...two three...four different worlds!"

Ein takes the opportunity to steal a lot of the beef.

[Jack's eyebrows raise. He's impressed. Both with her space travel, and her ability to balance the chopsticks while stuffing her face. He kinda figured about the first part, she's just too...casual...about where she is. He settles on the floor and crosses his legs, in a close approximation to how Ed is sitting.]

"Wow. Okay, well, people have been getting accidentally teleported here. And," [Jack tries to make sure he's caught Ed's gaze when he says this,] "we're not quite sure how to send people back yet. But we've got a lot of people working on it, so it's okay!" [He tries to smile and impart some confidence. He's not sure how Ed is going to take this, but it's not like he can hide what's going on from her.]

It is Ein who stops eating first. He in fact seems to be listening intently. The gentle warning is replied to with a soft whine, and his ears and tail droop. Stranded somewhere strange. That could be troublesome. And dangerous!

Ed chews, swallows, and blinks slowly at him. "Ed and Ein got jump-gated someplace new?" Her memories of how she got here are hazy.

"Is this a bad place?" She just wants to make sure. "Earth was always rock falls. Rock falls, rock falls, rock falls, and no food unless you like nuns. Ed can handle bad places.

"Is Jack-Jack's jump gate malfunctioning? Eeeeeed is very very good with computers! RADical Edward. Yay."

[Hmm. Jack doesn't now what a jump gate is, but she seems to understand 'I was in one place, and now I'm here' so that's the basic idea.]

[Jack has to snicker at Ed's wording about the food situation. That's obviously not what she means, but that's such a funny way of putting it. He tries to look serious again.] "No, this isn't a bad place. Strange place, weird things are happening. We're not sure how anybody's getting here. But, no rock falls, and, well," [Jack gestures to Ed's plate,] "At least there's good food."

[Jack looks at Ed's unorthodox computer setup. The brain looks clunky, but the screen looks higher-tech...what, exactly, is he looking at?] "Good with computers, hunh? What kind of computer do you have there?"

[ed_and_ein]

"Ed likes strange. Ed is strange. Hee-hee-hee." She ignores Ein, who is industriously cleaning the plate of all traces of beef.

"Good food is good! Hard to handle all the funny business with an empty tummy! Poor boys on Bebop and FayeFaye were allllways going hungry, and Ed with them. No wonder they always had such bad luck."

She gets up and wipes her mouth on her wrist, then scoops Tomato off her head and flips open the holoscreen, which boots up and presents Jack with a big yellow smiley-face. "To-MA-tooooo!" she introduces.

"This is Tomato, Ed's computer. Ed built Tomato from scratch back on Earth! Have a look!"

The operating system appears to involve a cartoon-ocean motif, with a rainbow of goofy-looking fishies and the odd octopus.
