The Station: Test Drive

Welcome to the Station's Test Drive

Here, you will have the chance to try your character's voice out before apping them into the game. Feel free to play out in whatever means you would like - through the Station's communicators which are video and voice or either one alone, through action tags or prose, or whatever else you wish.

Please note that testing a character here does not guarantee that you have a reservation on that character. You may reserve a character HERE. Also note that this may be used as one of your samples for your application, though the mods may ask for more if what is provided is not considered sufficient. Finally, any thing played out on the test drive will not be considered character canon until after your character has woken up on the Station, as each character is given a unique scenario for their character's waking upon acceptance to the game.

Gryf didn't offer her hand; wasn't a part of her culture. It had been so long since she'd met anyone else from her planet that she couldn't remember the last time she gave someone a proper 'greeting'. "Gryf," she said instead, smiling. "Ezri Dax..." she murmured, getting it on her tongue.

She eyed the symbol on the front of Ezri's uniform and gestured towards it vaguely with her chin. "From where you work?"

That was fine. The not-so-hypothetical death discussion had distracted Ezri from the detail of handshaking anyway. "Nice to meet you, Gryf," she said, walking to a more conversational distance.

She put her hand briefly on the combadge. (It didn't work. She'd tried it already.) "Yes, it's to show that I'm from Starfleet. I serve on Deep Space 9." It was a little weird that Gryf didn't recognize the Starfleet insignia, but it would be very hard not to know it if she was anywhere near the Alpha, Beta, or Gamma Quadrants.

Brow up. "Not a name I know, I'm afraid. Deep Space Nine... a ship?" Not a particularly inventive name by any means but anything called Starfleet, what a simple name, might go with simple names for everything.

Well. That answered that. And by answered, Ezri really meant that it only brought up a host of troubling questions. "Space station," she said, shaking her head. "Um, I'm going to take that to mean I'm not anywhere near the Alpha Quadrant."

She clasped her hands behind her back tightly. "Where exactly is this space station."

"I'm going to go out on a limb and say... no, no you're not," Gryf responded to her comment first about the Alpha Quadrant, there was that simple naming convention again, before the latter question made her laugh.

"Isn't that the question? The simplest answer is 'floating above the planet Bothaious on the Station' and the worst one is 'we have no idea'. Nothing around here is familiar."

Starfleet: all about creative naming! Even though it's not like humans had named their home planets "Sol 1" or "Terra Prime."

And speaking of planet names, Bothaious was definitely a new one to Ezri. So either she was in the Delta Quadrant or a different galaxy entirely... it had to be the former, right? This woman was definitely humanoid, and so were most sentient species in the Milky Way. "Okay... so what's the name of this station?" she said, eyebrows furrowing a little. "And how long have you been here yourself? I thought you said that you were part of the crew."

To the first question, Gryf only shrugged. "It's 'The Station'. Seriously, I don't even think they had time to give it a name before they were offed." A pause, then she clarified. "The race that created this place. From the logs, they built this place, were ready to start something up here, then got completely destroyed by another race who ignored the Station all together."

"And I am part of the crew. You can say I own the place. Finders Keepers."

...Oh.

"So you basically just found it like this?" Ezri said, looking around a little. Stranger things had happened, and it actually kind of reminded her of the Iconian Gateways. What a load of trouble that had been. "You're not in contact with any government or other organization, huh?"

That would be pretty tricky to navigate around. In fact, it might even be Gryf's fault that Ezri had been sucked into this part of the Galaxy. Intact ancient technology had a tendency to produce very unexpected results.

"Trust me when I say... there's no one else out there. Not anyone in the Station's range, at least. I am the government out here." Gryf's tone was a touch more serious, her gaze something difficult to read.
