The Station: Test Drive

Welcome to the Station's Test Drive

Here, you will have the chance to try your character's voice out before apping them into the game. Feel free to play out in whatever means you would like - through the Station's communicators which are video and voice or either one alone, through action tags or prose, or whatever else you wish.

Please note that testing a character here does not guarantee that you have a reservation on that character. You may reserve a character HERE. Also note that this may be used as one of your samples for your application, though the mods may ask for more if what is provided is not considered sufficient. Finally, any thing played out on the test drive will not be considered character canon until after your character has woken up on the Station, as each character is given a unique scenario for their character's waking upon acceptance to the game.

"That is correct. As far as my sensors are able to detect, it appears that the UMN does not exist in this place." KOS-MOS' tone rarely changed far from her smooth, unruffled, programmed inflections, but Shion of all people would be likely to recognize the note of puzzlement. So far as anyone new, the UMN extended everywhere. But here? No. There was nothing.

She followed Shion to the infirmary, then looked away from it. "My sensors are not entirely reliable; there does appear to be some level of interference. I believe there may be a small number of individuals on the station, but that is not a certainty."

"Interference?"

She turned to face KOS-MOS again, and tapped the side of her own mouth thoughtfully. Could something be interfering with UMN access too? Was that even possible?

"I wonder what could be causing that... Well, maybe whoever else is here will have some answers. Can you tell their location?"

There was a pause before KOS-MOS replied. "...One appears to be approximately eight meters above us," she replied. "Extrapolation suggests three levels separate us." But she couldn't be certain, and it nagged at her. KOS-MOS was not accustomed to unreliability. "The sensor interference appears to relate to the Station itself. I am unable to determine whether it is a result of an energy field, the materials used in construction, or a separate cause."

But there was someone to talk to, or at least some kind of life form to meet. "I believe the individual may be humanoid." Which was not always a given, after all. Someone they could ask about this place?

"Alright. I guess we don't really have any other choice. Let's find this person."

Even without her full functions, KOS-MOS most likely had a better idea of how to navigate to their destination, so Shion would follow her lead for now.

"I wonder though... Could there have been some residual damage from Fifth Jerusalem?" She hadn't really gotten a chance to check after the start up. "If we don't find any cause for the interference here, remind me to run some scans later, okay KOS-MOS?"

"Affirmative." There was a pause, and then KOS-MOS added, "I do not believe the problem originated with the damage I sustained on Fifth Jerusalem, Shion." Although it was absolutely reasonable speculation, there was just... something that said otherwise.

Irrational. Her programming spun off a subroutine to identify the source of that idea, unable to determine which process spawned it. Odd. Disturbing. Had she sustained damage her internal diagnostics were unable to pinpoint? "However, I believe an extra maintenance session would be advisable." If she could not locate it, surely her creator could.

She gave a nod as she looked over at the android, concerned. She really hoped they would find an external source of interference. Sure, there was a lot she could do with a connection gear, but not having access to Vector's equipment, or at least what the Kukai Foundation could provide, would be something of a setback. And their current surroundings were starting to seem a little dated, by her standards.

Shion wasn't the only one, either. KOS-MOS was aware of exactly what they did and did not have that would do her maintenance. If the issue were an internal one, the likelihood that Shion would be able to repair her with only the connection gear was... low.

"The medical bay appears to be largely unused," she said instead, selecting a different topic. There was little that could be said regarding her maintenance at this point. "We should move onward."
