The Station: Test Drive

Welcome to the Station's Test Drive
Here, you will have the chance to try your character's voice out before apping them into the game. Feel free to play out in whatever means you would like - through the Station's communicators which are video and voice or either one alone, through action tags or prose, or whatever else you wish.
Please note that testing a character here does not guarantee that you have a reservation on that character. You may reserve a character HERE. Also note that this may be used as one of your samples for your application, though the mods may ask for more if what is provided is not considered sufficient. Finally, any thing played out on the test drive will not be considered character canon until after your character has woken up on the Station, as each character is given a unique scenario for their character's waking upon acceptance to the game.
Medical Bay
He moved around the medical bay, observing reactions in different sample pods and then quickly moving back to the computers to input new commands and record the readings. Anyone walking in would also note his humming some Gilbert and Sullivan song under his breath as he worked.]
Re: Medical Bay
"H.M.S. Pinafore? You know, the second London revival had the most talented Sir Joseph Porter I've ever seen on stage. And backstage, too, for that matter."
Re: Medical Bay
"Ah, Captain Harkness. Have good ear. Became familiar with human theater sometime back. Music helps concentration. Prefer the patter songs."
He inhales sharply.
"How can I help?"
Re: Medical Bay
[Jack pauses just a little too long.]
"I've been trying to get to know all the people on the Station. I like to know who I'm working with. And, some of you guys, I don't even know how to approach."
[Jack gestures to Mordin.]
"Take you, for example. I've been around, and I've never encountered someone of your species before. New situations like this, there's always a question of inter-species cultural compatability."
[At least, that's what Jack thinks they called it back in Time Agency training. Sociological Theory wasn't his favorite class.]
Re: Medical Bay
Not much to tell. Salarian. From Sur'Kesh, Annos Basin, Milky Way. Former Special Tasks Group." He inhales sharply, "Assisted Commander Shepard against Collectors and Reapers. Satisfying work."
[His eyebrow quirks again.]
"Noticed your interaction with rest of crew. Different species react to stress in own way. Sexual activity normal stress release for humans. However, not personally interested."
Re: Medical Bay
"Well, too bad for that. Although, it's not just humans who use it for 'normal stress release.' You'd be surprised." Jack laughs. "Now, don't get me wrong, 'stress release' is fun, but there's so much more you get out of it."
Re: Medical Bay
"Well aware. Ran clinic in slum. Given talks in many cross species pairings. Advice. Medicines. Position instructions. HSSSSS. Do not mind what is done as long as it is done safely. Feel free to come to me if there is a need.
Suppose other point is true. Prefer examining cell cultures. Less alcohol required. Mood music."
[While his face doesn't give much away, his tone shows he is enjoying the conversation.]
Re: Medical Bay
"See! Live and let live, so many people in the last century I was in for a while just didn't get that. But I guess that's all in the past now..."
[Oops. You made yourself sad again, Jack. He trails off, and stares into a middle distance for a moment, before he pastes a smile back on his face, but this one is much less genuine.]
"Mood music? Did we just wrap the conversation back around to Gilbert and Sullivan? Can never go wrong with the classics."
[Jack briefly pauses to see if his attempt at distraction is working.]
Re: Medical Bay
Classics yes. Too much techno beat in modern music. Still creative but no soul. Emotion, but roughly expressed. Stage music tells story in small scale.
[Mordin gives something of an impression of an old man, as youthful as he looks.]
Re: Medical Bay
[Jack fiddles with the burnt-out manipulator on his left wrist, then looks up with a slightly guilty expression on his face.]
"I really should be asking everybody this. So, when is home for you, what time period?"
Re: Medical Bay
"2185 Common Era. By the Human. Your people made first contact 37 years ago. Just received seat on Council. HSSSS. Very fast. Very auspicious."
[His face drops a bit.]
"Reaper invasion imminent."
Re: Medical Bay
"I guess that takes away the possibility of paradox. I had just left 2009. We had already made first and second and third contact and more. And none of them were nice. Lots of invasions imminent, but, well...that's what I was there for."
[Jack looks away at the reminder of the responsibility that he left behind.]
Re: Medical Bay
Re: Medical Bay
"Hmm. Are we talking, transforming living people into their kind, or killing people and harvesting the cells? We've had...both."
Re: Medical Bay
Re: Medical Bay
"Close to Daleks, from our universe. Exterminate all life just because it is not Dalek, refine the cells of those they kill to make Daleks more perfect. The Doctor once called them the physical embodiment of hatred. Do the Reapers give a reason for what they do?"
