The Station: Test Drive

Welcome to the Station's Test Drive

Here, you will have the chance to try your character's voice out before apping them into the game. Feel free to play out in whatever means you would like - through the Station's communicators which are video and voice or either one alone, through action tags or prose, or whatever else you wish.

Please note that testing a character here does not guarantee that you have a reservation on that character. You may reserve a character HERE. Also note that this may be used as one of your samples for your application, though the mods may ask for more if what is provided is not considered sufficient. Finally, any thing played out on the test drive will not be considered character canon until after your character has woken up on the Station, as each character is given a unique scenario for their character's waking upon acceptance to the game.

"Yuna. Nice to meet you, my name is Shepherd Book." Just a child. Doesn't mean she's harmless, but she is still putting Book at ease. Maybe they aren't captured, then?

"Do you know where the rest of the crew is?" Book gestures to the Serenity. "Or how did we get here?" If they aren't captured, the other answers aren't necessarily good ones.

A shepherd, she doubted he was like the priests from her world but the idea still made her cautious. "Well I just got here myself and only really know what I have been told."

Yuna's face lit up. "This ship belongs to Inara." Jack had told her that but she subject of Inara was fragile. She knew that Inara was asleep but she didn't want to break open that wound for those who had known her. "She's gone for a little while though. Everyone hopes she will be back soon." Yuna's face lit up at the talk of hope.

Yuna walked around peeking into the inside of the ship. Even the inside looked similar. "Everyone on this space station was brought here against their will. We just woke up here with no memories to how we got here."

Book reacts instantly to that name. "Inara?" Inara's ship? Oh ho, don't let Mal hear you say that...

He tries to track what Yuna is saying, but he quickly gets confused again. "Wait, the Serenity, the other ships were abducted here?" So they are captured. "Where is everyone else on board, then? Captain Reynolds, Zoe, Wash, River?" But Book pauses, and looks at Yuna more seriously.

"Or, more importantly, what has happened to Inara?"

Yuna looked down, "Like I said I just got here so I don't know. I think she was sick." Yuna looked up with hope in her eyes. "But she has to get better. Everyone misses her." For never meeting someone she knew what Inara meant to her friends. Jack even said that Bruce hasn't left the lab since that day.

"I don't think anyone else from your crew is here." Yuna wished that Jack was here. He could explain. She didn't really understand her self. She watched Books expressions and wish that she could help.

Book's face and tone both gentle. There are a lot of questions, but maybe he is asking the wrong person. "I'm sorry. She is a very good friend of mine. Why is she sick? She never..." Book thinks back to Inara's mannerisms, the calm but unwaveringly strong way that she carries herself. She didn't seem sick at all. In fact, it was hard to think of a person more full of life than Inara.

"Everyone here, but the rest of the crew of Serenity isn't here? Has Inara been here before?"

"No but she has just been here for awhile." It was time that Yuna started quoting Jack, "This place takes people from any time and space. When we get put back its at about the same time we were taken from like nothing ever happened. But people who know each other can be taken from different times. We are all just trying to survive on this space station. Inara showed up with this ship. While I showed up in an area of the station that doesn't have life support. So it changes." Yuna paused waiting for that to sink in and for Book to have more questions she only sort of knew the answer too.

"Also there are no starts outside, and the planet below is empty, possibly toxic. Jack thinks that something wiped out the civilization both on the planet then this station. We don't know what it was yet." She quickly added as she remembered what she had been told.

Book blinks at Yuna, once. "No stars?" His voice is tinged with a little bit of disbelief. Impossible. He looks around the hangar, and eventually finds a viewport. He strides quickly across the hangar, but his pace slows as he can see for himself that Yuna is correct. The confusion on his face dies in favor of concern. This isn't some Alliance ship arrest, this isn't getting captured by a colony ship. They really are a long, long way from home.

Book has to pause and stare at that sight for a while in shock. The other things that Yuna said are battering around in his head, there will be more questions in a bit. "It just looks...wrong..." His voice is a whisper.

Yuna quietly came up behind him talking softly. "I'm not from a place with space travel and my world has magic. Its strange here. Nothing really makes sense." She gave him space. It seems like the stars really made people see. Does that mean that everywhere has stars? Then the one thing that connects them all is not even here.

Book turns around and regards Yuna carefully. "We're all far from home here, then." His head raises to look back at Serenity, and a faint smile touches his lips. "Well. I guess that's not quite true. But she just isn't quite home without the rest of the family on board."

"So, this...place, this galaxy? Never heard of the Alliance, or the Reavers? It's a place they've never been to?" That actually sounds really nice, if all the terrible things that make life so hard in his home world just don't even exist here.

Yuna shook her head, "The only ones we know that have been here besides us are the planets inhabitance and we know very little about them." Yuna swallowed, "They did find some bodies they were going to study but they haven't done so yet."

Yuna walked around Book glancing out the window. She generally avoided them because of the pain it caused. "What is your world like? I'm afraid we don't have Alliance or Reavers on mine." Yuna paused before each name pronouncing them slowly to make sure she got it right.

Book chuckles gently. "Trust me, child, it's a good thing that your world doesn't have those things." He slowly starts to walk back into the hangar, away from the viewport, apparently Yuna doesn't like the sight any more than he does. "Well, I spent most of my time traveling space, with the crew of Serenity. Originally, I was supposed to be going on a mission, like a pilgrimage, but," Book smiles fondly at the ship again, "life has a way of taking you where you need to be, rather than where you think you should be."

Hmm. Pulled out of space and time, but Inara is here, and sick. Maybe...that's what has just happened again?

Yuna smiled, "That's a nice way to think about it. I hope that I can help here." She turned towards Book and started to walk backwards as she talked.

"I think this station needs something to look forward to that isn't just being stuck or confused." Yuna was energetic and happy to talk to Book. So much so she forgot why she had come into the hanger in the first place.

Book smiles back. "Wanting to help, that's a nice way of thinking about things, too."

"Hmm, Station? So this is a full-on orbital space station, not just another ship? I've...been to a few space stations before." One of which, Book would very much like to forget. "About how many people are here?"
whereishe: (Happy)

[personal profile] whereishe 2014-01-29 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"15? not sure haven't met everyone. Its kind of a big place, but you should have a comm on you somewhere that can show you a map." Yuna reached into her pocket and pulled out her comm. "Like this."

She looked at Serenity with longing. Just like The Gullwing she felt like her freedom was with these ships. They could be bound here forever. "So there is a difference between a station and a ship? No one has ever really explained that to me."

Book checks his pockets, startled. He doesn't usually carry anything on him, so he didn't realize that he had anything new, but, sure enough, there is a small communicator in his pocket. "Interesting."

"Well, the basic difference is that a ship can travel through space, it has engines, designed to go places. A space station is supposed to stay in one place, usually orbiting a planet, but it doesn't go anywhere. They're usually used as refueling stations or trading posts, in my home." Book is pressing buttons while he is explaining to Yuna. This is more advanced than anything from Book's world, but it doesn't take him too long to find the map.

He blinks a few times, and frowns. "Fifteen people, taking care of a Station this big?"

"The station kind of takes care of its self and us." Yuna pulls out her sphere grid. It was an intricately woven metal frame with glowing spheres in it.

"This is something from my world. I didn't show up with it but it showed up here. I think the station is trying to take care of us." She placed the grid back in her bag.
