Welcome to the Station's Test Drive

Here, you will have the chance to try your character's voice out before apping them into the game. Feel free to play out in whatever means you would like - through the Station's communicators which are video and voice or either one alone, through action tags or prose, or whatever else you wish.

Please note that testing a character here does not guarantee that you have a reservation on that character. You may reserve a character HERE. Also note that this may be used as one of your samples for your application, though the mods may ask for more if what is provided is not considered sufficient. Finally, any thing played out on the test drive will not be considered character canon until after your character has woken up on the Station, as each character is given a unique scenario for their character's waking upon acceptance to the game.

"Ah-" Jack holds out his hands, to try to show he isn't a threat. "Sorry, bit of a surprise. I just walked in, I heard somebody inside. You just woke up on board here? I'm Captain Jack Harkness. But, this isn't my ship or anything." A tiny smile, because he has no idea that she already knows it isn't his ship.

Jack steps a little out of the door, gestures towards the front of the ship. "I can probably explain a little better if we step outside." The engine is still and silent, the normal subtle vibrations of the ship in motion aren't present, so they have to be landed or docked somewhere.

Kaylee gestured to the engine. "Someone replaced the compression coil." She was stating it as a fact. More than a few parts have been replaced but she hadn't had time to look closer at the engine yet. After being on Serenity so long she felt more comfortable on board.

Still she took his advice and walked pass him, giving him a quick look up and down as she went. "Where are we? The Captain and the others?"

Jack blinks, startled at her reaction, is she familiar with this ship? It takes him an extra second to start moving, ending up with him following her through the Serenity. Hang on, this isn't quite going as planned. "Wait, wait. Are you crew, here? You were on board here?"

He's trying to keep up as Kaylee keeps walking, but then he realizes the one thing to say that'll help confirm what's going on. "You know Inara Serra?"

Kaylee skidded to a stop and turned back towards Jack. "You know Inara?" She knew the ship so well that she could walk through it backwards if she needed too.

She hadn't gotten any answers from him and the mention of Inara's name made her want to find the crew more than a moment before. Was their ship attacked?

Jack nods firmly. "And you're crew on board here, too," he confirms. "Okay. you're currently docked at a space station, just known as the Station, and I know, that's not where you just were. The Serenity showed up here a long while ago, didn't fly in or anything, just appeared on board. Everybody has been just appearing, myself included, we're not sure how anyone is getting here."

"Inara was on board when this ship arrived, and she's been here ever since. I think there's another member of your crew floating around here, too." But Jack hasn't been eager to put himself in the same place as the religious man.

Kaylee looked at him like he grew three heads. She remembered being in the engine room and that is where she woke up though the comforting roar of the engine was gone. Her eyes scanned around serenity as she thought it through. It explained the changes to the engine but where were the others.

"jiàn tā de gu" It was too much for her to take in but at least Inara and Book were here.

"But we're working on how to get everybody home. We've got some pretty good leads." He tries to look confident at the woman. "Where we're at, it's a little complicated." Jack again gestures for her to follow. "You'll be able to see a little better out here."

As they walk through the Serenity the other changes are obvious, all the little personal touches to the ship seem to be gone, the cargo bay stands open and empty. When it had first arrived, the ship had been completely stripped out. An internal hangar is visible outside the cargo bay ramp, the Serenity is, indeed, parked.

Kaylee inspected everything as she followed the man. Her nerves were shot and she didn't and she didn't want to leave her baby alone but she needed to figure out what was going on. "Shiny." She smiles happily at the thought of being to go home. Nervous or not she was going to look on the bright side.

"You say that Book and Inara are here. What about the others? Have you found 'em?"

Jack shakes his head. "Everything we've seen says that everyone else is probably safe at home, in your home universe. Because, well, you've been pulled out a little further than just in space. Nobody knows where this area of space is, it's just- in the middle of nowhere."

And Jack nods towards one of the viewports of the hangar, one with a good view of the single planet and sun below, but nothing else but blank, empty space around station, planet, and sun.

Kaylee lets out a long breath looking out at the starless sky. "Wha--" It was hard to form words past her surprise but that explains why The Serenity hasn't just flown on home.

Maybe if she showed up the others will. Until then she will stay by the ship.
