The Station: Test Drive

Welcome to the Station's Test Drive

Here, you will have the chance to try your character's voice out before apping them into the game. Feel free to play out in whatever means you would like - through the Station's communicators which are video and voice or either one alone, through action tags or prose, or whatever else you wish.

Please note that testing a character here does not guarantee that you have a reservation on that character. You may reserve a character HERE. Also note that this may be used as one of your samples for your application, though the mods may ask for more if what is provided is not considered sufficient. Finally, any thing played out on the test drive will not be considered character canon until after your character has woken up on the Station, as each character is given a unique scenario for their character's waking upon acceptance to the game.

Fortunate thing he hadn't actually opened or taken anything. He's been chased by warehouse management hardware before, even if it was awhile ago, and feels no pressing need to repeat that particular experience.

He has been scanning, though, and whirls about when Book addresses him, all smiles.

"...oh! Ah, yes, hello! Nothing to put back, just..."--he glances at the sonic screwdriver in his hand, tosses it up, catches it, and drops it casually in his pocket--"...checking up on your cataloging. Regional supply catalog checker-upper, just dropped by, surprise inspection."

With his other hand, he whips out a black wallet sort of deal, flashing what (in all probability) certainly looks like regional supply catalog management credentials, whatever exactly a region supply catalog manager is supposed to be.

"And you are...?"

Book quirks a curious eyebrow at the man's mannerisms. Eyes follow the trail of the sonic screwdriver, and then as it disappears into his pocket. Sure enough, Book quickly sees a set of credentials that look very official in some capacity, too fast for him to really read the fine print. And yet, he still looks at the Doctor dubiously and laughs in reaction. "The surprise inspection bit. Haven't seen that one done in a while. Only, the only person allowed to really look around back here is Gryf. She wouldn't fall for that one for a second."

But he still has a good-natured grin on his face. "You just showed up here, didn't you? It's all right, so did everyone else." He warmly extends a hand. "Shepherd Book."
spacepeterpan: The Doctor's skeptical/curious expression (now that's interesting)

"Really. Intresting. Stranded somewhere out of the way, then, are we?"

That's got his interest--certainly much more than being told he's not supposed to be doing something-or-other, since he's almost always doing something he's not supposed to be doing, according to someone. He glances at his "badge" to make sure it didn't just come out all squiggly lines before pocketing it, then flashes a smile, shaking Book's hand more than affably enough... although there's something about his eyes.

Maybe it's just a bit of frustration at his little ploy getting no-sold, or at getting preempted on the greeting, or at not knowing what exactly is going on. But maybe it's something more.

"Ah, yes, a pleasure I'm sure, Shepherd. Who, though, is 'everyone else,' if yo don't mind my asking?"

"We are," Book confirms, lightly. He has been learning to try to keep the explanation as casual as possible, try not to make too big a deal of what is happening to them. He looks around the room, and, of course, they're in one of the few places without windows, so he can't show this man the same thing that finally drove home the entire point of their situation for him.

"We are currently on board a space station, I've been told the local year is somewhere in the 3500's," Book can never quite remember the right number. "There are about two dozen of us on board, all coming from different times and places, different worlds."

Book smiles in an attempt at reassurance. This man doesn't seem like Book's typical idea of a space traveler. "I know it might seem a little hard to believe, space and time travel, but we've found plenty of evidence to help prove it."
spacepeterpan: The Doctor is a bit incredulous (oh really)

"Space.. and.. time travel. Yes, that's quite a doozy, there."

This is possibly even better than when some human just a few decades old calls him a young man. Now if only he had his TARDIS on hand to really get the reversal in with the maximum impact.

"I don't suppose anyone's figured out just why it is you've all been collected up like that? Bit peculiar, don't you think?"

His attention seems to wander a little as he glances around, although he's taking in the situation. Of course it's a space station, the gravity's clearly artificial; a glance at his watch ought to confirm the date, as well. If there's an explanation, though, it's not obvious from the environment. Not yet, anyway.

"Haven't been hearing any creepy voices, or seeing statues that move about when you're not looking?"

Book doesn't quite pick up on the Doctor's tone, he just keeps smiling patiently. "There doesn't seem to be an overarching reason, as of yet. There have certainly been a lot of strange occurrences. No statues, but not too long ago, for example, everyone fell asleep at once, and we seemed to be falling into each other's dreams. I've also heard mention of an incident where a number of people on board were turned into horses."

"Not all of it has been benign, though, apparently there was also an attack, by things that people here described as zombies. Sounded a lot more like Reavers, from my world." Book frowns, and shakes his head to dispel that thought.

"A few people on board have theories, though. Gryf runs this place, but she doesn't know how we're getting here. Shipmaster 'Vadum would also likely be helpful to talk to, he's been here for quite a long time. Or, you could try talking to the Doctor. His explanations aren't always the most clear, though."

"Dreams. Hmm."

Interesting. It could be a situation like-- okay.

"...and horses."

Probably not psychic pollen. Zombies, as well? Curiouser and curiouser.

His eyebrows (such as they are) pop up at the mention of the Doctor, though. It's always fun meeting someone else who's just called "the Doctor." Well. Mostly fun. As fun as anything else that usually leads to getting shot at, but let's be honest, that seems to include most things worth doing.

"Talking to the Doctor, eh? Well, I'm sure I could do worse. All right, then." He straightens his bow tie casually, beaming as though this is all a great lark. "Take me to your Doctor."
